Mrs. Tommy G. (Cronan) Evans

While attending W. H. Adamson High School, Tommy met the love of her life, Howard Evans. The two were married in May 1956 and began a lifelong partnership filled with love, family, and football. When Howard played for the University of Houston and later began his career as a football coach, Tommy embraced her role as a coach’s wife with pride and enthusiasm.

Together, they raised two sons, Joel and Brian, and Tommy could always be found in the stands—cheering for her husband’s teams and later for her boys in every game they played. Her unwavering support and joyful spirit were a constant presence in the lives of all who knew her.

In 1981, Tommy and Howard moved from Dallas to Garland, Texas, where she made her home for the next 42 years. She created a warm, welcoming home filled with laughter, family, and friendship—hosting holiday gatherings and coaches’ parties where everyone felt like part of the family.

After Howard’s passing in 2002, Tommy’s strength and independence shone brightly. Surrounded by the love of her family, she continued to live life fully—attending the football games Joel coached and remaining a devoted supporter of her loved ones.

In 2023, Tommy moved to Van Alstyne, Texas, to spend her later years surrounded by family. She enjoyed traveling, tending to her flower gardens, reading, and shopping for antiques—always finding beauty and joy in life’s simple pleasures.

Tommy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Howard Evans; her parents, Gene and Freddy Mae Cronan; and her sister, Judy Morgan. She is survived by her sons Joel Evans and wife Lisa, and Brian Evans and wife Kim, and her brother Ed Cronan as well as numerous extended family members and friends who will cherish her memory.

Tommy will be remembered for her warmth, strength, and the boundless love she gave to those around her.

Funeral services will be at Laurel Land Funeral Home, 6300 S R.L. Thornton Dallas, Texas 75232 on Tuesday, November 18, 2025. Visitation will be at 1:00pm with graveside service at 2:00pm.
