

Tommye Milree Arbuckle passed away peacefully in Dallas, Texas, on July 22, 2022. Tommye was born in Meadow, Texas, on February 10, 1935, to Irene and Tom Brown. Tommye moved to Lubbock, Texas, in her teen years and graduated from Lubbock High School. She then attended Texas Tech University where she was class secretary, a founding member of Kappa Kappa Gamma fraternity, a Tech Beauty, Rodeo Queen and ROTC Sweetheart. She graduated from the Texas Tech business school with a BBA degree in three and a half years in 1956.
Tommye met the love of her life, Scott Guy Arbuckle, at the Hi-D-Ho drive-in while she was still in high school. Tommye and Scott dated for several years, including the years Scott was away in Korea serving in the Army. Upon his return, Scott and Tommye were married on September 1st, 1956.
Tommye worked for the Burlington Railroad in Lubbock, Texas, Humble Oil Company in New Orleans, Louisiana, and Texas Instruments in Dallas, Texas. Though she was successful in her career, her most fulfilling role was as a mother and homemaker. Tommye raised three children – Scott, Matthew and Michelle. Tommye was actively involved in her children’s sports teams and activities and loved watching them grow and mature. Tommye was also active in various organizations in Richardson, which is where she and Scott raised their family. She was a charter member of the Junior League of Richardson, member of three bridge clubs, member of the Bent Tree Royal Garden Club and played tennis for many years.
Tommye was a world traveler with her husband Scott. They were guests of dignitaries worldwide, which included dining at the Great Hall of the People in China and setting sail on the Queen Elizabeth 2. Tommye also traveled to Africa for a safari with several of her girlfriends. In 2000, Tommye and Scott took a millennium trip around the world with stops including Easter Island and Timbuktu.
Tommye had a beautiful life and was dearly loved and cherished by her family. She is survived by her adoring husband of 65 years, Scott Guy Arbuckle, and her children, Scott ,Jr. and wife Tammy of Carrollton, Texas, Matthew and wife Danna of Plano, Texas, and Michelle Arbuckle Gerald of Midland, Texas. She is also survived by her pride and joy, 6 grandchildren, Trey (Kyrsten), Jillian (Andrew), Hunter (Paige), Miles, Catherine, and Victoria and eight great-grandchildren, Ethan, Meira, Natalie, Lochlan, Emma, Harper, Clara and Harrison.
A memorial service will be held at St. Andrews Methodist Church in Plano, Texas, on August 3rd, 2022, at 11 AM .followed by a reception in the parlor. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
