Travis King

IN THE CARE OF
Calvary Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery
Travis King, age 37, passed away in his home in Richardson, Texas on Friday, July 22, 2022. Travis was born to Terry and Claudia King on December 9, 1984, in Silver Spring, Maryland.
Travis was raised in North Dallas and attended Jesuit College Preparatory School until 2004. He became an Eagle Scout at the age of 18 and received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Emerging Media and Communications from the University of Texas at Dallas in 2014. Travis worked for World Parts Direct in Garland as an automotive sales agent since 2019. He married Currin Jane Walvoord on November 11, 2011. The couple lived in Richardson and had three children together.
Travis was a man of many extraordinary talents. He was an avid gardener, a master bacon and egg fryer, a skilled hunter, an amazing dancer, and singer with full octave range. In 2018, he was awarded a purple belt in American Karate and could memorize an entire kata in less than a day. Travis played piano and guitar by ear and could spin heavy metal records with house vinyl or Journey songs. He could recall any song lyric or movie quote, and place any tune he heard in an instant. He loved all types of games, from cards to MarioKart to “I Spy,” and he especially loved playing with his children, wife, and extended family. Travis was a collector of many things: 80’s action figures like Silverhawks, Thundercats, and Visionaries; Conan, Deadpool, Punisher, and Wolverine comics; vintage books; heavy metal stickers, and only the finest Tennessee whiskeys and Kentucky straight bourbons he could find.
Above all his many passions was Travis’ love of quality time with his friends and family. He will always be remembered as a loving friend, rambunctious brother, devoted son, loyal husband, and dedicated father. If you asked Travis about his greatest achievement, it was not his many talents, or even his infectious humor or distinctive style. His greatest accomplishment was his family and their love for God and each other. He was a devout Catholic who found deep fulfillment in praying nightly and before meals with his children, taking Holy Communion, and participating in Mass. He adored his three precious children and his “green-eyed blondie-locks” wife whom he loved so dearly.
Travis is preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert “Bob” King, Thomas and Mickey Moser.
Travis is survived by his wife, Currin (Walvoord) King, son, John Ryan “J.R.”, daughters, Roslyn and Akira; parents, Claudia (Moser) and Terry; eldest sister Ann Marie Spillman (David), niece and goddaughter, Madeline Jenkins, twin niece and nephew, Savannah and Wyatt; younger brother Ryan (Meg), nieces, Caddis and Elli, nephew, Revere; beloved grandmother Barbara King Hart (Bob), as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
