Trinidad Agüero Blanco was born on August 4, 1934 in Havana, Cuba where she lived until 1965 when she sought asylum in Dallas, Texas. She lived in the United States until her passing on November 28, 2023, surrounded by those who loved her most.
During her youth, she lived with her parents, Pantaleón and Carmen (Bella) Agüero de la Riva, whom she adored as well as her beloved sister, Blanca. Trini often spoke of her youth with a wistful longing, reminiscing of the Havana of old before Castro.
She studied Ciencias Comerciales at the Universidad de Havana. Trinidad met and married the love of her life, Reinaldo Miguel Blanco, whom she would love and care for until his passing in 2013. When she realized the perils of living under a Castro Communist regime, she fled the only home she had ever known, taking both her elderly mother, Carmelina, and her 14-month-old daughter, Gemma. Trini came to the United States with just three dresses, one jacket, and a hope for a better and free life for her infant daughter. She believed wholeheartedly in the tenets of freedom and democracy, and Trinidad worked hard to make this hope a reality. Trini was proud to be an American citizen.
She became a banker, specifically in the International Banking Department, to support her family and make it possible for her daughter to go to the best of Dallas Catholic schools and eventually, onto university.
She was lovingly called Mimi by her granddaughters, and she took to this name happily, embracing her role as grandmother.
After the passing of her husband, she spent the remainder of her years caring for her remaining family, living closely with her daughter and granddaughters. Trini was a lifelong devotee of the sweeter things in life, chocolate being her favorite no matter what shape or form it came in. She was determined to be a key part of her grandchildren’s lives, attending many soccer/field hockey games, recitals, and theater productions. Apart from her attendance at family events, Trini was also an artistic soul, always drawing to her heart's content. Her family was her pride and joy, and she defended and protected her family no matter the adversary.
Trinidad’s family would like to thank her caregivers later in life, namely Lucia Esparza. Trinidad Blanco was loved by many and will be sorely missed by those she left behind, namely her daughter, Gemma Trinidad Nolan, son-in-law, Timothy Patrick Nolan, sister, Blanca Agüero Othon, and granddaughters, Sarah Carmen Nolan, Elysia Helen Nolan, and Claire Katherine Nolan. She is met at the gates of heaven by her husband, Reinaldo Miguel Blanco, her brother-in-law, Felix William Othon, her parents, Pantaleón and Carmen Agüero de la Riva, and countless other friends and relatives.
May she rest in peace.
