May 6, 1933 – May 11, 2021
Ubdelia Cano was a strong, quick witted woman, a boss, and a caring friend. She would give you the shirt off her back and always try to feed you. She loved to cook and especially make tamales, tortillas, and biscochos. She tried to crochet a blanket for every new baby born in the family and also loved to sew.
She had her favorites—favorite food, favorite coffee, favorite TV shows and a stubborn streak a mile long. She worked hard her entire life raising seven children, some of her grandchildren, and even some of her neighbor’s children.
She expected the best of herself and of everyone else. She lived most of her life in Texas and enjoyed traveling and entertaining. She opened and managed several restaurants before transitioning professions to Texas Instruments and retiring in 1992.
If you met her once you probably would not easily forget her. She voiced her opinion and you always knew where you stood with her.
Ubdelia had 7 children, 19 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and made at least a million friends over her 88 years. She was very proud to brag to anyone about her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents Jesus & Maria Jesus Lujan, her daughter Mireya Acosta, and siblings Sylvestre, Ruben, Jaime, Elfida, and Ofelia, and a great-grandson Antonio Garcia V.
She is survived by children Lupe Johnston & husband Dennis, Delia Byas & husband Don, Lydia Vrska, Gladys Sanchez, Josie Munoz & husband Diano, Jim Cano and wife Sherri. Surviving siblings include Olga Villa, Elia Lujan, Israel Lujan, Genaro Lujan, & Trini Baily, numerous nieces, nephews.
