Una was born November 23rd, 1935, in the humble coal mining town of Richwood, West Virginia. She was the 5th child of William (Frank) Summerfield, a WWI veteran, local coal miner and carpenter and Pearl Lee Clingham. Together the two raised their family with a strong foundation in God and a caring, loving nature towards all humanity. Una is preceded in death by her 4 older siblings, William (Butch), Elijah (Tiny), Ginny and Barbara.
Una set out upon the world in 1952 in the Great Appalachian Migration to Detroit Michigan at 17 years old where she worked with the New York Central Railroad. Una followed Bob, after they were engaged, to Marietta, Georgia, following his college graduation.
Una and Bob were married on October 10th, 1959. This would begin a long and happy time of life as a space and aerospace engineer;s wife in the heart of the nation's race to the moon. Una was quickly absorbed into the Lockheed and Martin Marietta wives club, who offered each other support and a lifelong friendship, while their husbands worked long hours away from home. During their time in Marietta, Una and Bob had their first child, Donna Belcher Heenan, on April 15th, 1962, (died February 2, 2021). Soon after, they were transferred to Clearwater, Florida where they welcomed their second child, Robert (Robb) Belcher, on April 4th, 1966. Many roads were traveled and adventures experienced in the defense contractor gypsy lifestyle. Una, Bob and their children eventually landed in Richardson, Texas, where they opened their business, Chem-Ecology, in 1971. Una served as treasurer, office manager and bookkeeper for 37 years before retiring and enjoying her time as a full time grandparent to her 4 cherished grandkids, who gave her her loving name "Mimi".
