Valorie Ann Davidson was born on January 28, 1954, in Lancaster, PA. to Christine Mae Dennison. Her Grandparents Robert and Sophie Dennison along with her mother would serve as strong influences on the person she grew up to be.
The third of seven children, Valorie graduated from JP McCaskey High School and was a member of the Glee and Black History clubs. Active in her community, she was a member of the Conestoga Elks Drill Teams and Crispus Attacks Club. Growing up in the Dennison household there was never any question about where Valorie would be Sunday’s. Bethel AME Church is where she attended Sunday School, sang in the junior and youth choirs and served as Secretary of the Young Peoples Department (YPD). She took meticulous notes and began to showcase those great organizational skills that so many of us have witnessed today. It was at this early age she received her calling to serve “The Lord.” Val has never wavered in her desire to be a servant for the Lord.
Val took time to start a family with her first-born daughter Erica Schron and son Eric Paul, both of whom she adored with all her heart. In addition, she began to chart out a career path for herself at R.R. Donnelley Printing Company working in sales where she was promoted to secretary.
In 1981, Valorie relocated to Dallas, TX. to join siblings Doug, Lorraine, Brian, Kevin and Bonita. Brother Trevor remained in PA. As Valorie embarked on this new chapter, she found a true spiritual and life partner in Larry (Bro. Larry). Val’ was employed by Xerox and retired after 17 years at Fidelity Investments.
She attended New Mt. Zion Baptist Church and became an ordained minister. Servanthood became a true devotion in her life. Sharing the gospel with her fellowship group or strolling through the isles of Walmart or greeting friends of Erica or Eric with a “Praise the Lord.”
Valorie transitioned peacefully to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 14, 2023. She was preceded in death by her mother Christine, grandparents Robert and Sophie. She is survived by her beloved Larry, daughter Erica (Will), son Eric, granddaughter Logan, grandson Layton, Siblings: Doug, Lorraine, Brian, Kevin, Trevor and Bonita. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins; aunts Margaret, Dora, and a host of friends.
