He was born in Houston, Texas in 1950 to Ora Pratt and Vernon Kizzie. Vernon met the greatest love of his life, Wanda in 1980 while he was working construction in Dallas. Eager to start their new lives together, the two were married January 7, 1983.
Vernon became a step dad to Terrance and Stacy Brooks when him and Wanda married. Later he fathered Ray Kizzie, born in 1990. From track meets, to wrestling matches, for Terrance and Stacy, to going bowling, and watching hockey games for Ray, He was always there to support his loved ones.
Vernon was passionate about providing for his family. Some know him as a truck driver or security guard. Some knew him as an entrepreneur, owning VK Rebar Company.
Vernon loved to go bowling, listen to the blues, fish and cheer on the Dallas Cowboys. He was a carpenter, loved to build and make clocks. From giving you a ride when you needed it, letting you borrow a power tool, to giving you the shirt off his back, he was someone you could count on to always help you out and be there when you needed him to.
Vernon will always be remembered for his ability to make you laugh and smile. Everyone he knew from family, friends, coworkers, to complete strangers, he would tell a joke, tell a story, or tell you something that would make your day better.
