On May 10, 2020, Our Heavenly Father called home Vickie Michelle Gadberry Barnes from this earth to a better home in Heaven. Vickie was born on July 7, 1962 in Dallas, Texas to the union of William Gadberry, Jr. and Dorothy Marie (Mullins). She accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of the Mt. Rose Church Duncanville, Texas. She graduated from David W. Carter High School in 1980. She spent many years of practicing and perfecting her skills playing the clarinet. Vickie could play various woodwind instruments and she also learned to play the piano at an early as taught to her by her late mother, Dorothy Gadberry. While at Carter High School she worked hard to earn a coveted spot in the Carter Band. In her hand written notes upon her graduation she wrote that her career aspirations were to become a teacher, clerk typist or a secretary. Upon her graduation she decided to remain close to home where she attended Cedar Valley College earning an Associate’s Degree in Business. She also worked at a national chain retail store for many years where she excelled and was noted as a top employee. Vickie married her high school sweetheart, Donald Eugene Barnes, in a union that lasted for 20 years. She also utilized her business office skills working as a secretary and administrative assistant with the Army Air Force Exchange Service, Warehousing, and later Trust Joice Lumber Company for 30 years. In her spare time, she enjoyed knitting and crocheting. Although Vickie did not have any children, she took great pleasure in the formative rearing of her niece, Ashley Salvador, after the passing of her mother in 1996. Vickie was truly blessed with a wonderful and loving family. Vickie was preceded in death by her parents, William Gadberry, Jr. and Dorothy Marie (Mullins) Gadberry; her brothers, William Gadberry III and Richard Lee Pierce; Sister, (Maria Gwyneth) Ameerah Safa Abdur-Rahim; Grandparents, William Gadberry, Sr. and Ruby (Buchanan), and Jeff Mullins and Evelena (Snow).
