Vicky was known throughout Winnsboro for her cooking, cake decorating, and her lifelong heart for nurturing children. Many lovingly knew her as the “Hamburger Lady” during hometown football games through her years of involvement with the Winnsboro PTO. If there was a potluck, community gathering, or someone in need of a good meal, Vicky was usually there.
Her desire to help others extended far beyond the football field. Vicky was an early member of the Winnsboro Community Resource Center, where she helped support local families and neighbors through its food pantry.
Vicky was also a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Winnsboro, where she faithfully served in the children’s ministry through Vacation Bible School and the church nursery for many years. If you are from the beautiful town of Winnsboro, there is a good chance Vicky rocked, fed, comforted, or cared for you or your children at some point over the years. She had a servant's heart and a love for Yorkies, her blue Cadillac, and the Dallas Stars hockey team.
She was preceded in death by her father, Emmett Clyde Thomason; mother, Alice Helen Berger Thomason; and husband, Jimmy Lester Winters. She is survived by her daughter, Amy Hertel; son-in-law, Cody Hertel; and grandsons, Blake and Noah, whom she loved deeply.
There will be a graveside service on Saturday, June 20, at 1 p.m. at Grove Hill Memorial Park in Dallas. Per her wishes, she will be laid to rest near her father, and after eight years apart, she and her husband, Jimmy, will be reunited in their final resting place.
