

She was born in Blossom (Paris), Texas on December 14, 1935 to William Owen and Elizabeth Jane (Sutton) Caldwell. She graduated from Paris High School in 1954 and attended Paris Jr. College and the Executive Secretarial School in Dallas. While working as a secretary for Otis Engineering in Dallas, she met and married Thomas J. Wirtz in February 29, 1964. They had 4 children and lived abroad for many years before returning to Texas and divorcing in 1992. When she returned to the U.S., she worked for Colonial Life Insurance for many years. She married Roy Sayler on September 27, 2001 and enjoyed spending time traveling to see her children, grandchildren and many international friends. She was an active member of the Women’s Circle at First Presbyterian Church of Dallas and completed many community service projects. Vivian was always willing to help in any way that she could and always put the needs of others ahead of her own. She loved talking about her family and any accomplishments, sports or school-related activities. She was never more than 10 steps away from her phone, Mac or iPad at any time.
Survivors include her husband Roy B. Sayler of Dallas, TX; her daughter, Theresa Wirtz and grandson Gabriel of Minneapolis, MN; daughter Elizabeth (Michael) Buchholz, and grandson Oliver of Singapore; daughter Gretchen (Thomas) Cox, grandchildren Jordan, Dakota and Chandler of Scottsdale, AZ; son Mark (Tami) Wirtz, grandchildren Caleb and Aaron of Rapid City, S.D; sisters Faye (Jack) Welch and Marilyn (Dick) Harvey, and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Earl Caldwell and sister, Juanita Whitaker.
