His Celebration of Life service will be on Saturday, April 16, 2:00pm at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home, 7405 West Northwest Highway, Dallas, Texas, 75225.
Wallace was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, as the third of four children. His father was a high school teacher & pastor. His mother was a nurse. He was raised in North Florida until his family moved to Mercedes, then Weslaco, TX, when he was 10. There his parents pursued training to become missionaries. They moved to Monterrey, Mexico ,when he was 13 and founded Esperanza Missions. He stayed in Mexico 2 years for school learning to speak Spanish and loving the attention as a blue-eyed gringo. Wallace then moved back to Florida to finish high school at Orange Park. After graduating in 1978, he worked as a Merchant Marine. In 1979 he moved to Waco to attend Baylor University where he earned a degree in Sociology.
Wallace saw his need for a Savior as a young boy and through his life continued to grow in his faith and relationship with the Lord. In college he was an active member at Highland Baptist Church and later Antioch Community Church. Wallace met Christine at Highland and they were married on April 30, 1988. Most recently Wallace was a member of Upper Room Church in Dallas, Texas.
Wallace loved people, which reverberated through every part of his life. He was a hard worker and played hard. He was a devoted father to his three sons, Austin, Mark and Benjamin. For his boys, it seemed that Wallace was simply always there - there to play with as a young child, seek comfort from as an adolescent or hear wisdom from as an adult. Wallace was quick to become passionate about his boys’ hobbies, from Legos, to soccer, to musical equipment and even dirt biking - he just wanted to be where his boys were. He also enjoyed “teaching them to work hard” by doing yard work on weekends. He could fix anything and really made use of YouTube when it became available. He was generous, quick to say yes to any new idea for fun and also knew something about just about any topic you would want to discuss. Wallace loved long conversations at the table after dinner and spending time with his boys and grandkids outside in the yard. He was an eternal optimistic, with an infectious smile and always quick to crack an old joke or retell a story.
Wallace loved people as a career, sharing financial wisdom with his clients (who he called his friends) for nearly a quarter of a century and helping bring security to hundreds of people’s financial stories.
Wallace is survived by his wife, Christine; son Austin & his wife Brooke and their 3 sons, Cole, Ford & Jack; son Mark and his daughter Copeland; son Benjamin & his fiancé Elle; brother John Mark & wife Vickee; sister,Barbara Marvel & husband, Lance; sister Joan Bennett and many more beloved nieces and nephews. Along with many other beloved friends who passed before him, Wallace got to see his parents, Wallace Francis (Frank) and Montine Bennett again on April the fourth.
