

Walter was born on August 24, 1946, in Anniston, Alabama, to Eschol and Helen Louise Cain. He grew up in East Dallas and attended Woodrow Wilson High School. He was raised with strong values of hard work, kindness, and dedication-qualities that would define his life and the way he cared for others.
On February 23, 1968, he married Edna Joyce Fryer Cain and together, they shared 58 years of marriage, building a life centered around family, love, and unwavering support for one another. They were blessed with two children, Michele and Michael, whom Walter adored deeply.
He spent much of his life working in the electrical field, dedicating many years to Rexel Electric, where he served as manager. His strong work ethic and commitment to his career earned him the respect of both colleagues and customers. He showed a passion for his work, beginning in the electrical business at an early age.
In his spare time, Walter found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved golfing and fishing, and he was a devoted sports fan; enjoying football, basketball, and baseball. He also attended basketball games with his son, Michael; and car races with his daughter, Michele. The enthusiasm he shared about his favorite race car driver, the late Dale Earnhardt, was evident in the display of memorabilia he collected. He appreciated the excitement and competition of racing.
Walter will be remembered as a loving husband, a supportive and devoted father, and a man who never met a stranger. His warm personality, friendly nature, and genuine love for people made a lasting impression on everyone he met. He was outgoing, caring, and always ready with a kind word or a helping hand.
Walter was proud of being a part of the Garland Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association, Class 43. He also attended Northlake Baptist Church in Garland, where he found community and fellowship. In recent years, declining health limited his ability to attend, but his faith remained important to him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eschol and Helen Louise Cain.
Walter is survived by his loving wife, Edna Joyce Fryer Cain of Garland; his daughter, Michele Webb and her spouse Terry Renaud of Little Rock; his son Michael G Cain and his spouse Ralea Cain of Rockwall; and his cherished grandchildren: Randi Webb of Little Rock, and Preston Cain, Parker Cain, Paxton Cain, and Peyton Cain all of Rockwall. He is also survived by his brother, James Cain, of Euless along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins who will miss him dearly.
Walter's legacy of kindness, dedication, and love for his family will live on in all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A visitation will be held at Grove Hill Funeral Home, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, TX 75228 on May 15, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
A funeral service will take place at Grove Hill Funeral Home, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, TX 75228 on May 16, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm, followed by a graveside service at Grove Hill Memorial Park, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, TX 75228 on May 16, 2026 at 1:00 pm.
