Wanda Lynn Burden

June 11, 1954April 3, 2021

Wanda Lynn Burden was born at Methodist Central Hospital in Dallas, Texas on June 11, 1954. She grew up in Oak Cliff and lived there until she was 12 years old. At that time, the family moved to Duncanville, Texas, and in 1972 she graduated from Duncanville High. She attended Mountain View College then moved to East Texas for a short time. Wanda soon moved back to the Dallas area and worked for a bank, an Insurance Company, and a Medical Supply Company before moving to Canton, Texas where she found her home. She worked for First State Bank until 2012 when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Wanda battled her cancer, car wrecks, infections, including pneumonia, and several other complications from her cancer, and fought each with a smile and determined attitude. She was a strong, courageous fighter, and became an encouragement to many people right up to her untimely passing on April 3, 2021.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, Garner L. Burden and Naomi Yeager Burden. She is survived by her brother, James Burden, and sister, Lois Webb and husband, Terry. She is survived by nephews, Jacob Burden, and wife Gaia, Todd Webb, and wife, Loni; also a niece, Lisa Turbeville, and husband, Brandon. She is also by her great nephews, Toby and Timothy Turbeville, Stanley Burden, and great niece, Leonara Webb. Wanda was also fortunate to have a god-daughter, Elizabeth Hair. She has many beloved work associates as well as numerous brothers and sisters in Christ.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society. The family would also like to express our greatest appreciation to Doctor Arielle Lee and her amazing staff, Wanda’s special friends, Pam Willis and Jeayne Crawford for their dedication and love for Wanda.

Laughter. We laughed through everything. The sound of you laughing is in my heart. Blueberry waffles at midnight. Your fear of running out of twinkies and Chris and you coming back with 20 boxes. Thank you God for letting Wanda be in my life.
Wanda I'll see you on the otherside.
I love you.
