Wanda Jean Smithson (A.K.A., Dumpy) Wanda Smithson was born September 13, 1927 in Dallas and passed away on May 19, 2016 after enjoying a wonderful life with her loving family. She was the youngest child of Paul and Myrtle Schlottman. Wanda was preceded in death by: her husband Billie Smithson; her older siblings Pauline Corley, Paul Schlottman, Glen Schlottman, and Mary Peterson; her youngest son Ronald Paul Lee; and her grandson, Christopher Lee. Her life was filled with the joy of loving her children Frank A. Lee and his wife Marian of Colorado Springs, her daughter Marilyn Waisanen and her husband Larry, and her son Ronald. Their children Ronnie Lee, Christopher Lee, Stacy (Chris) Tackett and Melissa (Ken) Naffziger adored their grandmother and the adventures she took them on in their younger days. Her five great grandchildren kept her laughing and young. Her stepson Randy Smithson, his wife Ann and their children and grandchildren and Bill’s granddaughter Melanie, added love to her life. Granddog Lily will miss her afternoon pets and treats. Wanda worked at Titches and Zales but her fun was “boot scootin” and fishing and if the “pick em up truck” was “going down the road” she was always “hot-to-trot”. Every summer we couldn’t wait to see what flower-bedecked bathing cap she would sport but never get wet, and we will never forget the hike where she went sliding repeatedly in the mud. What fun she had playing cards with her grandkids and keeping a 15+ year running rummy score with Melissa. She raised the sweetest, most loving dogs because she was so sweet and loving. Graveside service will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Laurel Land and afterward her family will welcome family and friends at the home of Marilyn and Larry Waisanen.
