Wayne Frederick Howse

Wayne Frederick Howse, of Dallas, Texas, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed into the presence of the Lord at age 91 on Tuesday, October 13, 2020.

Wayne was born in the farming community of Moweaqua, Illinois, to Fred and Hazel (Hines) Howse on November 13, 1928. Wayne graduated from Edwardsville High School and excelled in sports. He received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Oklahoma A&M College, now known as Oklahoma State University.

After graduation, Wayne served in the U.S. Army (1950-1952) and was assigned to weapons research. While serving in the Army, he met the love of his life, JoAnne Norman, originally from Asheville, North Carolina. Wayne and JoAnne were married on November 28, 1952 in Alexandria, Virginia.

After his military service, Wayne began his engineering career at Waggoner Electronics, served as military sales manager at Texas Instruments, and completed his career at Hallmark Electronics. Wayne and JoAnne are long time members of Park Cities Baptist Church where Wayne worked faithfully in local missions and church softball coaching. He served as the vice chairman of the Board of Deacons and was named a deacon emeritus in recognition of his servant heart.

Wayne is preceded in death by his parents Fred and Hazel Howse and his sister Ruth Howse Jesse. Wayne is survived by his wife of 67 years, JoAnne Norman Howse; son Greg Howse and wife Barbara of Melissa, Texas; daughter Lynn Howse Mullin and husband Daryl of Dallas, Texas; and daughter Sharon Howse Pate and husband Glenn of Plano, Texas. Wayne was a proud grandpa, paw and poppi to grandchildren Jackson Wayne Pate, Leslie Howse Beatty, Carisa Howse Copeland, Allie Mullin Frankenfeld and Katie Mullin. He was blessed with great grandchildren: Carter Copeland and Leona JoAnne Beatty.

A private interment will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park on Monday, October 19, 2020 with a memorial service to be held in the future.

Memorial gifts in honor of Wayne, may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association ( Wayne’s family wishes to extend our sincere thank you to his many friends, caregivers, and the senior adult ministry at Park Cities Baptist Church.
