Wayne Edward McCullough of Irving, Texas died peacefully in his home on Wednesday, December 16, 2020. He was 88 years old. Wayne was the son of Henry Elmer McCullough Sr. and Willie Ruth Bigham, born on March 17, 1932 in Dallas, Texas. He graduated from Crozier Tech Highschool in 1950 and went on to attend North Texas State College, now the University of North Texas, where he earned his Bachelor of Business Administration. Wayne served two years in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
He later met Margaret Lee Mason and the two were married on October 23, 1959, in Dallas, Texas. The couple lived for a short time in Dallas but moved to Irving in 1963 and have been Irving residents ever since. Wayne was employed with Lone Star Cement company until they closed their Dallas plant and then went on to work for the City of Dallas as a Computer Programmer Manger Analyst until his retirement in 1996. He was a long-time member of Plymouth Park Baptist Church where he was a faithful participant for over 50 years. He served in their children’s ministry as a VIP volunteer and for several years in their community outreach mission. In his spare time Wayne enjoyed reading and doing jigsaw puzzles.
Wayne is proceeded in death by his wife Margaret, his two brothers, Henry Elmer McCullough Jr. and Gerald Mancel McCullough as well as his sister, Patricia Ruth McCullough West.
He is survived by his two daughters Paula Frances McCullough (Irving), Karen Lynn McCullough Winters (The Colony) and her husband David Winters. Wayne had four grandchildren, Stefanie Lee Hubbs Brekne and her husband Karlan S. Brekne (Edmonds, Wa), Brian Wayne Hubbs (Irving), Julie Lynn Hubbs (Irving) and Valerie Renee Hubbs (Irving). He was blessed to see two great-grandsons born, Sebastian Wayne Hubbs and Carmello L. Tave. Services will be a private family affair to be held on Monday, December 21, 2020. Wayne will be buried alongside his wife Margaret at Laurel Land Memorial Park.
