

Wilburn Ed (Buddy) Rieves passed away on February 7, 2017. Born on a farm in Eustace Texas on August 21, 1926, the youngest of thirteen children. Served in the USMC from September 1942 until December 1945, in the Pacific Theater Of WWII. Honorably discharged as Private First Class. He married Ruby J Collins on February 16, 1946. Committed to a life time of service with the Dallas Fire Department from February 15, 1948 until November 26, 1978, rising to the rank of Battalion Chief. On his days off he held various part time jobs. He served as an Assistant Scout Master with the Boy Scouts of America. He looked forward to being part of a team of volunteers that assisted disabled children on and off the rides at The State Fair of Texas for more than twenty years. He was an active supporter of the Muscular Dystrophy Association. An active member of The Urban Independent Methodist Church. In 1968 he received the Julius Schepps Civic Award for activities for the betterment of The community. Buddy was passionate about all animals and thoroughly enjoyed his pets.Survived by his four children, Marlynn, Carolynn, Denise, and Richard. Six grandchildren, Peggy, Jim, Megan, Jason, Regan, and Karen. fourteen great grandchildren, D.J., Matthew, Marlee, Mason, Mackenzie, Caleb, Carter, Nathanial, Tyler, Mallori, Devin, Gavin, Sederick, And Luke .He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 39 years, and his twelve brothers and sisters.
