Wilda P. Brackeen, age 91, passed away on August 24th, 2021 in Dallas, Texas. She was born on December 30th, 1929 in Mineola, Texas to Jimmie K. and Faithie Patrick. Wilda was raised in Dallas, Texas and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1947. She married Jimmy Jack Carson in 1951 and the couple had two children. She was an executive assistant at Texas Cotton Ginners Association and Dallas Baptist Convention, where she worked for many years.
In her spare time Wilda enjoyed being involved with her Sunday school class, and helping out with their annual class directory. She loved entertaining, cooking for her family, and playing spade, bridge, and dominoes. Her family and friends will always remember her as a very sweet, kind, and caring person.
Wilda is preceded in death by her first husband, Jimmy J. Carson, father of Jackie Cook and Carolyn Jones, who passed away in 1964. Wilda remarried C. Jack Brackeen in 1975, father of Charles and Douglas Brackeen, who passed away in 2014. She is also preceded in death by brother, Joe Patrick, who passed in 2012.
Wilda is survived by sister, Martha Taft of Tyler, Texas; children, Jackie Cook (Brian) of Dallas, Carolyn Jones (Brent) of Garland, Charles Brackeen of Garland and Douglas Brackeen of Del Rio; grandchildren, Michelle Cook Cox (Terry), Kim Cook Davis (Allan), Jimmy Carson Cook (Anna), and Steven Brent Jones (Nhu); great-grandchildren, Elena Cox, Brandon Davis, Chris Burgess, Zachery Davis, Morgan Cox, Adeleine Jones, Carson Cook, and Audrey Jones.
