Wilford “Cotton” Lafond Lakey was born April 16, 1943 in Pittsburgh, OK and passed away December 4, 2016 in Waxahachie, TX. Wilford loved fishing, hunting and spending time with his family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Stephen and Naomi Lakey; son, Terry Leon Lakey; granddaughter, Erica Lakey and two sisters, Norma and Barbara. Wilford is survived by his wife of 56 years, Barbara Lakey; children, Johnny Lafond Lakey and wife, Joni; Cheryl Ann Wood and husband, Artie, Janet Darlene Hutchins and husband, Carl; 10 grandchildren, Johnny Lakey, Jr. and wife, Ashley, Brad Lakey, Kristin Satcher and husband, Jake, Kalli Narvais and husband, Lee, Tiffani Lakey, Trevor Lakey, Jonathan Wood, Joshua Wood and wife, Sarah, Kindra Acosta and husband, Javier and Marissa Threadgill; 6 great-grandchildren, Zoe, Carter, Hailey, Olivia, Hayden and Cory; daughters-in-law, Michelle Lakey; brother-in-law, Virgil Smith; numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, December 8, 2016 in the Laurel Land Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Laurel Land Memorial Park.
