

William was born on November 8, 1938, in Jacksonville, Florida, to William P. Atkins Jr. and Elizabeth Parker Atkins. He lived a life marked by dedication, service, and commitment to those around him.
He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, beginning his service on September 26, 1958, and rising to the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. During his time in the military, he served in Vietnam and was awarded the Bronze Star for Valor in recognition of his courage and service.
Following his military career, William worked for Texas Instruments and Raytheon, where he was respected for his strong work ethic and professionalism.
On October 26, 1985, he married Joanne Stauffer in Quinlan, Texas. Together, they shared many years of marriage and built a life centered around family.
William earned his Bachelor of Science in Occupational Education (BSOE) from Wayland Baptist College in June 1977, reflecting his dedication to personal growth and education.
He is survived by his spouse, Joanne Atkins of Garland, Texas; his children, William Atkins IV (“Bill”), James Atkins (“Gator”), and Shawn Atkins; and his daughter, Elizabeth Coyne of Union, Missouri. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Perry and Hunter, and his great-grandchildren, James and SkyLah.
William will be remembered for his honorable service, steadfast character, and the love he had for his family. His legacy will continue through all who knew and loved him.

A Committal Service will be held at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, TX 75211, US, on April 3, 2026, from 11:30 am to 12:00 pm.
