William A. “Bill” Belcher, Jr. was born March 16,1946 in Raleigh, North Carolina to Naoma “Mimi” Lillian Roberts and William Andrew Belcher. Bill passed away on January 7, 2025, with his wife by his side after a brave and courageous 5-year battle with lung cancer.
As a young boy, he lived in Raleigh, North Carolina, Norfolk, Virginia, and Apponaug, Rhode Island until the family settled in Tulsa, Oklahoma. While Bill enjoyed all the places he lived, he always loved North Carolina the best. Bill graduated from Ponca City Military Academy in Oklahoma in 1964 and attended Oklahoma University.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1966 to 1968 where he served in Cuba and Vietnam. In 1975, he moved to The Colony, Texas and worked as a systems programmer for Haggar, Forecast Consultants, Price Waterhouse and the University of North Texas. While at Forecast Consultants, Bill met his wife Kim of 38 Years.
Bill is survived by his wife, Kimberly Cahlik Belcher; son, William Andrew Belcher III and spouse, Erin; grandsons, Will, Ethan and Eli Belcher; daughter, Laura Anne Belcher Johnson and spouse, Oliver; granddaughter, Noelle Anne Johnson, born 9 days before Bill’s Passing - although he never met her in person, we know he will be forever watching over his precious granddaughter; sister, Pamela Johnson and spouse, Bill.
He loved his children immensely. He enjoyed phone calls listening to all his son’s and grandson’s sports accomplishments. His daughter, Laura, amazed him with her work ethic, determination, drive and all her many professional accomplishments. Before his passing, we talked about how anxious he was to teach Noelle all about golf. Golf was a true passion of Bill’s and while in his last few years he could no longer play, he enjoyed watching it and advising/teaching anyone who wanted to play.
Bill and Kim did everything together. They enjoyed traveling, golf, family genealogy research, and history discussions. Their favorite thing to do was just talk and share over a cup of coffee and a donut. Bill was always there by Kim’s side helping her with whatever volunteer project she was working on whether it was scouting, church work, school activities or work activities. Kim will greatly feel his loss. They were true soul mates.
Bill was loved by everyone. He was a good and kind man. He was forever proud of his time serving in the U.S. Marines.
There will be a private graveside service will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Dallas, TX. A Requiem Mass to honor Bill will be held at 1:00 p.m., at St. Matthias’ Church, 3460 Forest Lane Dallas, Texas 75234.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts be made to the Blackland Prairie Raptor Center, Lucas, Texas.
