Bill, Jim and I will miss you dearly when we go to the march in DC, hopefully next year.  We looked forward to sharing the day with you every year.  You will forever be in our prayers.

My deepest sympathy to Bill's family.  I met him at the Vigil Mass for the March For Life in Washington D.C.   I sat next to him and he shared with me he had just come into the Church during the Easter Vigil Mass in April.  He asked me a few questions which I answered after the Mass was over he gave me his contact information.  We became friends.  He would always save me a seat at the Vigil Mass.  He always in either the first or second row in the front.  When I got cancer I could no longer attend but would let him know I would be looking for him on TV.   He  was deeply in love with God and a had a heart of gold.   I am so sorry for your loss.  Bob, being a twin myself, I know the emptiness you 
must be feeling.   Again I am so sorry.

I was so sorry to learn that Bill had died. It was a blessing to have known him. He and his family are in my prayers. 

I very much enjoyed getting to know Bill Button at Church through Knights of Columbus as well as attending Mass. He was a true humble and gentle man. I remember seeing him in the Adoration chapel one time spending quiet time in prayer with Our Lord and you could tell form his demeanor that he was in the presence of God and nothing could take him away form that. 

To the Button family, my deepest sympathy. It was such a shock to learn of Bill's  death after having talked with him at our Knights of Columbus meeting the previous Thursday night.  Bill was a very devoted member of the Knights and truly exemplified and practiced the principles of the Knights by his gentle, caring manner and his practice and devotion to our faith. Bill was a Lector at weekday Masses and always proclaimed the readings in a clear and devoted manner. I will miss our conversations after Mass and Knight's meetings.  He, as well as his father, mother and sister, are in my thoughts and prayers.

The memory I have of Bill Button is always seeing him around St. Joseph Catholic Church, and reading at mass. I first met him about 8 years ago in RCIA, and since would say hi when I would see him at church. I’ll never forget the time when I went to our lady of Fatima event in Dallas all alone and when I arrived I didn’t recognize anyone I knew and then I saw Bill and we sat together for the event:) He was quiet, kind, and a strong Catholic:) going to miss seeing him but I know he is with us at mass and will remember him at every mass:) pray for us Bill:) 

Bill was indeed a kind and loving soul.  He was a natural musician, mastering the guitar by age 11 in the 5th grade.  He became a brilliant musician through hard work.  When we were in New York together in 1977 he made sure we saw Yul Brynner in the King and I on Broadway as well as a World Series game.   He was best man in my wedding and cared deeply for my children.  I am so very sorry his time on this earth was cut short but I know he believed he would be re-united with those who have gone before to another shore and who now see in a greater light.  Rest In Peace dear brother, and may light perpetual shine upon you.



Bill was my sweet brother-in-law!  I first got to know him in 1981 when I was dating  his fraternal twin brother, Bob, who I married in June of 1983.  Bill was Bob’s best man at our wedding and always talked about how much he loved being such a big part of our wedding.  He was quiet and unassuming but very devoted to family.  When we had our two children, Jeff and Amy,  he was so happy to be their Uncle Bill!  He made it to most every  birthday party, sports event, and theatre production.  He also came to their graduations for both high school and college!  Later in life he made the long drive from his home in Dallas to our home in Murphy to hand deliver birthday gifts to us and he always joined us for Thanksgiving and Christmas.  He was also a musician and would sometimes entertain us with songs that he’d written himself on his guitar.  We were so surprised about his passing, especially since he had recently joined a gym and was loving working out with his trainer to help himself become healthier.  He also seemed happier and more outgoing in recent months.  Bill was very much loved by all of us and he will be very much missed!  

It was with great sadness that I learned of the death of my dear friend, Bill. I call him my friend, although I was never really close to him, nor was he to many others, I think.  He was quiet and kept to himself.  He sat alone at Mass, came alone to events, and presumably went home alone. There was a kind of mystery about Bill.  He always graciously refused invitations to stop by our house. When he did come, he stayed outside, chatted few moments, and then was gone. But private though he was, Bill was not a recluse.  He loved and embraced life.
I invited him to come on a parish Holy Land trip in 2012.  At first he refused, but then decided he wanted to see all the sacred places he'd studied about all his life.  If he thanked me once for that trip, he thanked me a hundred times. He lectored at a Mass Fr. Louis offered at the Church of the Transfiguration and told me it was one of greatest privileges of his life. 
He gave me booklets for Advent, Lent, and Easter, and sent lovely postcards from the March for Life each year.  When I'd lectored that Sunday, he'd thank me for making the reading come alive for him. Monday's email told me again how much he appreciated the reading.  An excellent reader himself, Bill never failed to affirm others who proclaimed the Word. 
Bill's soul was simple and pure, without pretense or guile. I never heard him say anything unkind to or about anyone.  And how he loved his Catholic faith and his Lord! It sustained him in life and I am sure Jesus smilingly welcomed him into the heavenly rest prepared for us for all eternity.  Well done, good and faithful servant; sleep in Christ's peace, dear Bill.  Pray for us.

My deepest sympathy to Bill's family.  Bill was a very quiet,  gentle person.  A very sweet man.  He always sent me cards from the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, DC when he attended the Pro-Life March, and I always got a beautiful Christmas Card.  I was always amazed at the beautiful cards he selected each year.  I always complimented him on his choices. Bill, I will miss seeing you at church and hearing your great voice as a Reader.  Rest In Peace, my friend.

I was blessed to have gotten to know Bill through the years primarily through my work in Catholic radio.  I had lunch with him just six days before he passed away.  The words that come to my mind when I think of Bill are peace, joy and gratitude.  He was truly one of the holiest men I've ever known who spoke only of goodness, beauty and truth and how much he appreciated his life,  his job, his family, his upbringing and his faith.  Even when he lost his job he spoke so glowingly about his employers and never expressed fear or anxiety about his future.  Last November in the midst of the Covid 19 Pandemic I decided to do a radio interview about Thanksgiving since so many people were so stressed out.  When considering a guest for the program the first name that came to my mind was Bill Button.  He was the most grateful person I knew and I was happy that he agreed to do the interview.  If ever a person lived who was prepared to meet God at the end of their life it is Bill and I pray that God has already welcomed him into His heavenly kingdom and that Bill is experiencing God's glory like never before.  Thank God for the life and witness of this incredible man!

He was an extraordinary man: smart, generous, kind, cultured and an exceptionally devout Catholic Christian. Bill’s humor, intellect, dedication to family, friends, church and service were blessings to all who shared his circle of life. His prayerful, faith-filled life was truly an inspiration that had, and will continue, to have such a positive influence on so many. We will not soon see one like Bill among us. We thank God for the gift of his life, witness and faithful friendship.
