Dr. William L. Crofford, Jr. (Dub) entered eternal peace on October 21, 2018 due to complications related to ALS. Dub was born on October 17, 1932, in Victoria, Texas, to William and Melba Crofford. He obtained a BA degree from University of Texas, Austin, in 1953, and a MD from UT Medical Branch Galveston in 1957. He completed his residency in pathology in 1963, the last 2 years of which were while serving in the 4th Army at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio. He and his family then moved to Dallas, Texas where he practiced pathology at St. Paul Hospital from 1963-1997. He, with his friend and medical partner, Patrick Jenevein, founded ICL medical laboratory. He served as the president of the Texas Society of Pathology, and was awarded the George Caldwell award for distinguished service in Pathology. Dub was an active member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church of Dallas, where he attended and taught Bible class and led a Careciple class for many years. He enjoyed playing as well as coaching sports, was an avid reader, and traveled to all parts of the world. In all matters of work, faith and family, Dub was respected for his honest opinion and insight. He is survived by his wife and best friend, Betty, his children Jennifer Louise Freeman, Theodore W. Crofford (Delynn), Larry S. Crofford, Jonathan M Crofford (Capp), and Sally Louise Richardson, along with his 12 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and his 2 sisters, Linda Fennell (Bill) and Wanda Durham. The family is grateful for Dub's dedicated caregivers. Private interment Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. The Memorial Service will be held at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 7611 Park Lane, Dallas, on November 3, 2018 at 11am. If desired, memorials may be sent to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and School.
