William Carlisle Kimple passed away on November 12, 2012. Bill was born December 13, 1928. His parents were Louis C. and Gladys Halsell Kimple. He graduated from Sunset High School and attended University of North Texas and graduated from SMU. He served his country in the Fourth Army Band as a saxophonist and Jazz Band Leader. The band broadcast weekly recruiting shows on the radio featuring Vic Damone and others from 1951-53 during the Korean conflict. He met and married the love of his life, Patsy Brazil in 1952. They celebrated their 60th Anniversary in February of 2012.
Bill loved music and played the saxophone from the time he was five when he played with a family group called The Kimple Kiddies with his brother Louis and his sister Kathleen. They played for various vaudeville venues and school functions. Bill was senior Vice President of Dixico, Inc., President of Vibra Tile, Inc., President of International Recording, Inc., President of C-PO Packaging Company, and Co-Owner with his wife Patti in Handmade & Co., a shop in Olla Podrida in North Dallas.
Jazz music was Bill's life from the time he was just five years old until the last days of his life. In the last few decades he played with the Richland College Jazz Ensemble, Swingtime 2000, big bands and with various small combos, including his own group, Men In Black and combos to entertain for receptions, fundraisers and philanthropic events. It gave him great joy to entertain and raise money for Scottish Rite Hospital as well as his 15 years of service for the Meals on Wheels program. Because he felt so blessed in his own life it gave him great pleasure to give back.
He is survived by his wife Patti, their 3 daughters and their families as well as his sister Kathleen Kimple Verrill. Bill and Patti's 3 daughters are Cheri Travis and her husband Phil and their sons Dylan of Boulder, Colorado, Erik Travis of Dallas, and Eben Travis of Portland Oregon, Lisa Vernall and her husband Nigel, their daughter Caroline and sons David and Michael of Cheltenham, England and Robin Ellis and her husband Richard and their daughters Avery and Tess of Alamos, Mexico and seven great-grandchildren and a host of loved ones and friends.
