

He was born on September 5, 1945 in Center, Texas to Lillian Polley and William Dubose King. William excelled academically in school but was also an outstanding basketball and baseball player. He attended St.John’s College and the University of Texas.
After marrying Nancy Bougher of Columbus, Ohio, on November 11, 1966, they moved to Montreal, Quebec. William finished his degree in Philosophy at McGill University in Montreal in 1972. He was known for his intellect and clarity of thought. During this time, William worked as a translator for various computer firms.
For recreation, the Kings owned a small cabin in the wooded hills of Eastern Quebec and especially enjoyed snowshoeing in winter. William and Nancy moved back to Dallas,Texas in 1984 where William worked as a technical writer, then as a technical communications manager for Hewlett-Packard. He retired in 2002 to pursue gardening, metalworking, and setting up a garden railway. He also loved cars and owned S-Class Mercedes.
William was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Nancy Bougher King, and sister Linda Kay Davenport and her husband David, of Baytown, Texas. He also leaves two nieces, Kayla Leanne Logan and her husband Monte, of Houston, Texas and Kristen Deanne Davenport of Baytown, Texas.
