William "Black" Eugene Mathis

William Eugene Mathis, age 63 passed away on August 16, 2025, in Dallas, Texas. He was born on January 10, 1962, in Dallas, Texas to William Mathis and Stella Garner. William Eugene Mathis was raised in the Highland Hills and Pleasant Grove areas in Dallas Texas. He attended school in the D.I.S.D in his earlier years and was a self-employed car detailer.

He enjoyed watching sports and playing dominos. Some of his happiest moments were shooting pool with his siblings. He also loved spending time at the lake and hanging out with friends.

His family and friends will always remember him for his big, beautiful smile, his love for looking sharp, especially how he wore his hats and the confident way he carried himself. He was a great cook and the life of the party, especially when he hit the dance floor. He was especially proud of his beautiful daughter, whom he adored. He cherished being a loving father and treasured every moment spent laughing and talking with her.

William accepted Christ at an early age and joined Pleasant Hills Missionary Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his Mother, Stella Evans; his Father, William Mathis and his Brother, Keith Rogers.

He is survived by his Pops, Charles Evans; his daughter, Eugenia Mathis; his sister, Lynda Roque; and ,his brothers, Dennis Mathis, Tim Rogers and Mack Rogers and his wife Crecia Rogers, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

As we bid farewell to William Eugene, we celebrate his life. His departure is deeply felt, yet his spirit remains an eternal presence and remembered in our hearts.
