Willie Armstrong

Born William henry Armstrong, on August 26, 1938, in Palmer, Texas; to the parentage of the late Lula Mae Gowans and J.T. Armstrong they preceded him in death. He was affectinally known by his family as “Henry”; while others knew him as “Willie”. At an early age he accepted Christ under the leadership at the Palmer Church of Christ. After moving with his grandmother, he joined and became very active in the Methodist Church, until moving to Dallas. He received his early education in the Palmer Scholl District, but continued his education in Dallas, at Lincoln High School. He met and married Georgia Long, and to this union on child was born, Ivolure. Upon marriage, he joined his wife, at the Church of The Living God, P.G.T. in the earlier years he served as an Usher and later he joined the Male Chorus. He retired from Delta Air Lines, then he became a School Crossing Guard, for DISD, until his illness. He spent most of his leisure time playing golf and fishing, but his true love was singing. He is preceded in death by his wife, Georgia; his daughter, Belinda; his son, Tommy Lee; two brothers Buford Harris, and Willie Ray Harris. He leaves to cherish his memories his daughters, Dr. Ivolure Armstrong, Dallas, Texas brother, Obie York, Federal Way Washington; sister – in- law Cynthelia Harris, Dallas, Texas; godson, Jabors Welton, III ; Dallas, Texas and The Matriarch of the family Thresia Flowers, Seattle Washington In-laws: Marilyn Chinn, Everarine Adams (Ray), Patricia Johnson, Willie Mason (Dorothy), Bobby Scott, Jyce Thomas, Lee Thomas, Alfred Ray Thomas, James Thomas and Jerry Thomas; Charles Miller (Vivian), and Cameron Long and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friedns.
