

Mother Wilma Jeanne Runnels Was born June 8, 1948 in Trinity, Texas to the late Willie May Armstead, and Willard Childs she was a third child of five children from this union. One sister and one brother preceded her in death. She graduated from Pinkston high school shortly after she became employed at the downtown Dallas Margo's La Modes Store and being slim and tall, she began modeling some of their clothes. She also was employed at Texas Instruments where she retired from more than 20 years of service.
She married Mr. James Williams and to that union one son Christopher James Williams was born the pride of her life. She made sure he had everything he needed in life educated him in private schools. In her later years she accepted Christ at Full Gospel Holy Temple Church and later in her life, she met the true love of her life, Mr. James A. Runnels Who was the founder and pastor of the Greater Holmes Street COGIC and a carpenter.
After being introduced by a friend that he was a carpenter he gave her his business card, months later she needed cabinets installed for her. She called him. He accepted the job. He began to seek her status. He invited her to church, later invited her to dinner and soon after he proposed to her, she asked him for some time to think about it later she accepted and on February 11, 1991 they were married. Sister Wilma Runnels became the first lady of Greater Holmes Street Church of God in Christ where she serve faithfully by her husband's side until God called him to rest, then her health began to decline Lady Wilma Runnels was a woman of God, Holy Ghost filled fire baptized was loved by many. She loved God, and the people of God, her family, and studying the word of God. A liberal giver in the house of God. She loved going fishing.
Preceded her in death, sister Bobby Lacey, and brother Frank Childs.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her son, Christopher Williams (Sonia), A sister Joyce Bolden (Willie) Dallas, Texas, A brother Willard Childs(Sandra) Of Dallas,Texas. Four stepsons James Runnels IV (Betty) Of Midlothian, Texas, Noel Runnels Of DeSoto, Texas, Joel Runnels (Leona) Of Dallas,Texas, Ricky Runnels Of DeSoto, Texas. Grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great, great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews and a host of friends. The Greater Holmes St. COGIC Family her Pastor, Superintendent Jeffery, Ross, and her bishop, Bishop Nathiel DD Wells and the entire Texas North East Fourth Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction.
