Wilson Schoellkopf, Jr. died Saturday at his home surrounded by family after a long illness. He was 80 years old. Born and raised in Dallas, he attended Texas Country Day and graduated from The Choate School and The University of Texas. Wilson, an investor, was active in a number of Dallas philanthropies and institutions, including Dallas Lighthouse for the Blind, West Dallas Community Center, The Hockaday School, and Brook Hollow Golf Club. Wilson was an avid and talented golfer, a three-time club champion who served as a director of the Trans-Mississippi Golf Association. He was also a devoted husband and father who was well loved for his gregarious personality and sense of humor. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jan DeJarnette Schoellkopf; his son, Wilson W. Schoellkopf and his wife, Lynde; daughter, Elizabeth Dal Piaz and her husband, Christopher; daughter, Jennifer Emanuelson; his two brothers, John Schoellkopf and his wife, Cathy and Alan Schoellkopf and his wife, Mardie; and 6 grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Friday, September 16th at 11:00am at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Hockaday School, The Dallas Foundation, Operation Kindness, or the charity of your choice.
