

Winnie Christine “Chris” Cassin, 87, of Dallas (formerly of Indianapolis), passed away on Monday, December 23, 2019. An Indiana resident for more than 50 years, Chris was born December 21, 1932 in Eldorado, Texas. The daughter of an Army chaplain, and married for 67 years to a career Air Force NCO, Chris traveled extensively living in South Carolina, Mississippi, Michigan, Texas, California, Colorado, Wisconsin, and overseas in Japan.
She first came to Indianapolis in 1966 when her military husband was assigned to Defense Information School on Fort Benjamin Harrison. A Vincennes University alumnus, Chris worked 25 years at the U.S. Army Finance Center on Fort Harrison, retiring in 1997 as a Military Pay Supervisor.
Chris was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Indianapolis, where she was active with the Trinity Women’s Guild. She loved music and enjoyed dancing. Chris was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Fred E. and Zepha M. Carr of Mobile, AL; brother, Fred W. (Jean) Carr, Jr. of Santa Ana, CA; and sister, Bettie M. Sheridan of Rosanky, TX. Chris is survived by her husband James Richard “Dick” Cassin of Dallas, TX; a son, James R. II (Jane) of Ingalls, IN; daughter, Carolyn M. (Robb) Krecklow of Dallas; grandchildren, Jennifer J. (Tim) Randall of Fort Worth, Robert W.L. Krecklow of Dallas and Patricia C. (Bryan) Salcedo, Dallas; step-grandchildren all in Indiana: Tom (Angie) Davis, Rick Davis and, Scott (Kristy) Davis; several great-grandchildren; sister, Treca L. Lambert of Lucedale, MS; sister-in-law, Jeanne B. (John) Martens of Port Huron, MI; and brother-in-law, Kelley L. (Pat) Martin of Clarkston, MI.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at 10:30am at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 7611 Park Lane, Dallas, TX 75225, with an interment to follow in the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery.
