Winnifred "Winnie" Glynn (Willey) Schramme

Winnifred “Winnie” Glynn Willey Schramme, a beautiful soul and the cornerstone of her family, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2026, in Dallas, TX, at the age of 84. Her passing followed a courageous journey with Dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.

Born on June 7, 1942, in Vicksburg, MS, to Julian Hugh Willey and Virginia “Virgie” Loyce Williams Willey, Winnie grew up with a vibrant eye for beauty. She attended Louisiana State University and remained a life-long Tigers fan. She realized her true creative passions for clothing design attending the Ray-Vogue School of Design in Chicago, launching a career as a talented children's clothing designer for Stockton in Dallas. In Dallas, she met the love of her life, Larry Schramme, and were married on December 16, 1967, in Delhi, Louisiana; and together built a life centered on faith, family, and love.

While her early career showcased her artistic talents, Winnie’s true life’s work was her family. When she and Larry started their family, they instantly became her highest priority. She poured endless love, patience, and warmth into her home. Later, she extended that motherly warmth to the community- investing over 20 wonderful years as a beloved pre-school teacher at University Park United Methodist Church weekday school.

Winnie was a woman of deep, unwavering faith. She was a persistent prayer warrior, a loyal member of their adult Sunday School class at Highland Park United Methodist Church, a Prayer Tower volunteer, and a dedicated participant in Bible Study Fellowship. She also found great strength and community as a faithful member of Al-Anon.

Winnie’s joy for life was contagious. She loved music, dancing, art, and the simple beauty of a blooming flower. It was dancing that brought Larry and Winnie together. She cherished time with friends, but nothing brought her greater joy than being "Meme" to her grandchildren. Some of her happiest days were spent at the family ranch in Whitney, TX, exploring the outdoors, collecting fossils and wild flowers, and teaching them to appreciate the wonder of nature. She and Larry loved to travel, completing a visit to all 50 states.

Her bright legacy of love and faith lives on through her survivors: her devoted husband, Larry; children, Gene (Tina), Sloane Phillips (Preston), and Will; grandchildren, Parker, Grayson, Davis, Hatcher, Olivia and Warner; her brother, Hugh Willey; and many extended family members. She enters eternity reunited with her beloved parents who preceded her in death.

Though deeply missed, Winnie's life remains a testament to enduring faith, unconditional love, and the lasting impact of a gentle and generous heart.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial gifts be made to Highland Park United Methodist Church in honor of Winnie's memory, celebrating the faith and church community that were such an important part of her life.

A Memorial Service is scheduled for August 7, 2026, at 10:00 am at Highland Park United Methodist Church, 3300 Mockingbird Ln, Dallas, TX 75205, US.
