Yolanda Silvas Muñoz, 79, was born June 6, 1947, and passed away September 11, 2026. A lifelong Dallas, Texas native, Yolanda will be remembered as a beloved and cherished presence whose devotion to family and steady kindness shaped the lives of all who knew her.
Born and raised in Dallas, Yolanda graduated from N.R. Crozier Technical High School in 1965 as the Class Salutatorian. Even in her early years, her diligence and sense of purpose were evident through her involvement in Student Government, Junior Achievement (JCTC), and V.A.E. Yolanda was the daughter of Bennie Peña Silvas and Virginia Rodriguez, and grew up alongside her siblings: Virginia Saldana (Daniel), Bennie Silvas (Rebecca), Yvette Cooper (James), and Robert Silvas.
Yolanda built a life defined by hard work and reliability. She worked in credit unions as an accountant and bookkeeper, and later with ETMF, Frito-Lay, and Share Plus in record keeping, where she retired in 2010. Throughout her career, she was known for her thoughtful, loyal nature and the quiet selflessness that made others feel supported and cared for.
On November 7, 1969, Yolanda married Robert Muñoz, and together they shared 56 years of marriage, renewing their vows in 2019. Their family grew with the birth of their son, Randall (1974), and their daughters, Maria Muñoz (1975) and Stephanie (1976). Yolanda’s love expanded through the generations: Grandchildren/Guardian Lillianna Silva (2002) and Mario Silva (2003); Randall married Vanessa (2006), and they welcomed grandchildren Valencia Munoz (2007) and Kaylee Muñoz (2009). She was also blessed with great-grandchildren Jaxon Rodriguez and Enzo Ibarra. Family came first for Yolanda—always—and her devotion was expressed not only in words, but in the countless ways she showed up, gave, and cared.
An avid and passionate reader, Yolanda carried a lifelong love of learning and reflection. She also loved children deeply and gave her time generously, volunteering in schools and participating in senior activities. Adventurous in spirit, she loved traveling and immersing herself in new cultures and experiences, embracing each new place with curiosity and gratitude.
Yolanda’s generosity extended well beyond her home. She volunteered for La Voz del Anciano, was highly involved in school PTAs, and served as a Red Cross volunteer. Her welcoming spirit was a gift to her community—steady, kind-hearted, and sincere.
Yolanda’s legacy is one of love, family commitment, and open doors. Christmas was her favorite holiday, and she was a generous gift giver—often buying extra presents to keep on hand for anyone who might stop by. Holidays, birthdays, and anniversaries will not be the same without her loving spirit. Most importantly, Yolanda spent a lifetime loving and supporting her husband Robert, encouraging her family and friends, and offering compassion to those in need.
The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to the staff at UT Southwestern for their professionalism, words of encouragement, and the care provided during Yolanda’s hospital stay. They also extend thanks to the staff members of Purehealth rehabilitation center.
“Yolanda thank you for your endless love and dedication to your family, You will be missed immensely. Thank you for being a faithful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. We will always love you! Our prayer is that you have been reunited with your mother, father, aunts, uncles and friends.”
