Zachary Scott Davis, of Midland, TX passed away unexpectedly on July 7, 2016 in Lubbock, TX. He was known as many things by many people: loving father, beautiful son, ornery brother, even more ornery grandson, and fierce friend. One thing that resonates with all those who knew and loved him is the fact that he will be sorely missed. He was born on April 9, 1984 in Odessa, TX to Scott and Linda Davis. Zachary believed his greatest accomplishment was his amazing son Zachary Mason. As any great father would, Zachary sang and danced with Mason on car rides both long and short, the music as a backdrop to the laughter they shared; at home, Zachary loved to make little Mason laugh by scratching his beard on his feet, and craved the moments where he was able to just sit back and watch Mason splashing in the bathtub; and when booboos showed up or Mason was upset, Zachary was always there to comfort him with a soft hug and back rub. Of course, for Zach, nothing meant more than when Mason would grab his face and pull him in close for a kiss, or when Mason would simply say “Love You” or call him “Daddy”. When you watch Zachary and Mason together in videos, you see deeply into Zach’s soul through Mason’s emotions. Many friends and family who followed his video posts on Facebook have said this has been an inspiration to them and anticipated his postings daily. Zachary also had a profound effect on family and friends through his love and devotion. He loved deep, laughed hard, and was happy to be there for his friends when times were tough. Zachary was a pillar of strength and a kid at heart. His megawatt smile and witty personality were contagious when he was present. He dressed impeccably and spoke kindly. Zachary loved to play golf, and especially loved beating his brother, Brooks, all while rubbing it in. He loved the game of Wahoo and was very competitive while playing with his family. Some of Zach’s favorite moments were spent cooking for family and friends, particularly when it included his father and brother. His love for his sister, Jordan, was immeasurable and he always knew just the right buttons to push to get a rise out of her. He liked to hear stories from his mother about growing up on the Westside of Odessa and the many things she would do as a child. Zachary accepted Christ in McKinney, Texas as a teenager and was later baptized in Odessa, Texas at Crossroads Fellowship Church. He was a hard worker, loved the smell of the desert, and never felt quite right until there was dirt between his fingers, a true cowboy at heart. Zachary’s final gift - a beacon of light through the darkness of loss - was the donation of his organs in order to give life to others and aid in vital research on diseases such as COPD. Zachary is survived by his son, Zachary Mason Davis, of Midland, TX; parents, Scott and Linda Davis, of Dallas, TX; his brother and wife, Brooks and Brittany Davis, of Dallas, TX; his sister, Jordan Davis, of Dallas, TX; grandparents, Cotton Davis and Martha Phillips, of Odessa, TX and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Robert Phillips and grandmother, Katy Davis. The Funeral Service will be held at 4 o’clock on July 14th at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home with a reception to follow in the L.N. Sparkman Family Lounge. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to LifeGift.org, the organization in which Zachary donated his organs to help those in need, or charity of your choice.
