Sobel, Zella S. Siegel Died 7/24/2011 "Hello hello" is what you would hear when you called Ms. Sobel. She was always ready to give wise advice, a plate of cookies or an interesting story. From her extremely close family life in Waco to her 70 years of living in Dallas, Zella Sobel was a force for making any lives she touched a little prettier, happier and better fed. As the youngest of 8 children in a first generation immigrant family rich with love and determination to earn the American dream, she learned to be very persuasive. She was a state debate champion and declined the 4 year scholarship to Baylor University to help her family. Her cherished work as a kosher caterer in the Dallas-Ft.Worth area from 1953-1999 involved long hours and countless details but it lead her to wonderful friendships which she spoke of with great joy through her final days. Zella Sobel lived a full life to age 92 and is survived by her daughter Marcia Sobel-Fox, son-in-law Fred Fox and grandchildren Leonard and Hannah Golub, Jeffrey and Jeryl Golub, Jennifer and Ray Marcus, Gregory Fox and Marla Fox and great grandchildren-Orly, Olivia and Asher Golub, Abigail and August Golub and Isaac and Evin Fox. Ms. Sobel is also survived by many wonderful nieces and nephews and many close friends. Ms. Sobel is predeceased by her husband, Isaac Sobel, and daughters Gail Golub and Sharon Sobel. Ms. Sobel spent more than 50 years of her life worshiping at her beloved Congregation Shearith Israel and helping Dallas Jewish families through the whole life cycle. In lieu of flowers please make any expression of sympathy with a donation to Congregation Shearith Israel - Isaac Sobel Fund, the Ann and Nate Levine Academy, Yavneh Academy of Dallas or any charity of your choice. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 26 at 10:00am at Congregation Shearith Israel (9401 Douglas Avenue) and immediately followed by a graveside service at the Shearith Israel Cemetery (4634 Dolphin Road).
