Adelino Simões Luís

Adelino Simões Luís, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on September 17, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of love, kindness, and memories that will be cherished forever.

Adelino was born in Cerdeira, Lousa, Portugal, to the late Maria Rosa Simões and Armando Luís. In 1977, he immigrated to the United States with his beloved wife, Maria Rosa Luís, and their daughter, Sandra in search of a new life and new opportunities for his family.

Adelino was a hardworking man who spent many years working in construction for several asphalt companies. He never sought recognition for all that he did. He was simply a man who believed in working hard, helping others, and taking care of the people he loved.

To know Adelino was to know a truly kind, loving, and heartfelt man. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, and he did so with a genuine smile on his face. He had a simple way of living and never needed much to be happy. What mattered most to him was being surrounded by the people he loved.

Adelino especially treasured time with his family. Gatherings filled with laughter, music, and good company were some of his happiest moments. And if there was a dance floor, you could be sure that was where you would find him. He loved to dance, and in those moments-his smile, his laughter, and the happiness on his face- are memories his family will hold on to.

He was also a passionate soccer fan and a proud supporter of his beloved Benfica. His grandchildren can still hear him proudly saying, “Benfica number 1!” It was one of those little things that made him who he was, and undoubtedly one of the many things that will bring a smile to their faces when they think of him.

Above all else, Adelino was a family man. His greatest pride was the family he built and the people he loved so deeply. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Maria Rosa Luís, his daughter, Sandra Ribeiro (Rui), and his cherished grandchildren, Eli and Daphne Ribeiro, who brought him immeasurable joy. He also leaves behind his three brothers- Laurentino (Elizabeth), Manuel (Irene), Mario (Lorena), his three sisters, Soledade (Joaquim), Benvinda (Eugénio), Engarcia (and the late Manuel Rodrigues), his brother in law Ze (Luísa), his sister in law Elizabeth (Abraham), along with his many nieces, nephews, extended family, and countless friends whose lives he touched with his kindness.

Adelino had a way of making people feel welcome, cared for, and loved. His kindness, his smile, his laughter, his dancing, and his unwavering love for his family will never be forgotten.

He leaves behind not only memories, but a beautiful example of how a life filled with love, hard work, generosity, and family can touch so many people.

Adelino may no longer be with us, but his smile will remain in our memories, his kindness will live on in the people he helped, and his love will forever remain in the hearts of his family.

Visitation will be held at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St, Danbury, Connecticut 06810, on September 24, 2026, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Peter Church, 104 Main St., Danbury, CT 06810, on September 24, 2026, at 1:00 pm.

Interment will follow at St. Peter Cemetery, 71 Lake Ave Ext, Danbury, CT 06810, on September 24, 2026.
