I knew Alan when we were in high school.  Recently I was informed of our 1984 High School reunion.  I passed on the opportunity to go and was angry with myself when I saw the pictures from the event.  I was so happy to see Alan’s smiling face and I had hoped he had enjoyed a full life. I knew Alan since I was a kid and worked with him for many summers since I was 17 years old.
Alan was a great friend always cracking jokes, smiling, and laughing. I remember the 80’s driving around with you in your Black Grand National down Rogers Park I think everyone remembers that car bro. So sad that your gone man your definitely going to be missed. Last year when Alan did my roof he showed me my name that I scratched into the truck back in 1986 I couldn’t believe it plus I couldn’t believe the fact he still had that same truck.

I just spoke to him the other day, he seemed positive about being busy with his business.  I would  run into him at the gym and he would get a big kick out of seeing me there.

As our lives do they drift apart. Back in the day, up the ladder with a full bundle of shingles exhaling ready to relax only to hear Repko’s yell, "shingles again".

You were one of the most competitive people I ever knew.  My brothers and I loved playing against you and I loved winning a Championship with You.  I am sure you are in a nail biter right now upstairs calling for "Ball!!" working the refs to get that edge to win the game.  You were a Constant at the War Memorial, and the A league will not be the same without you.  Rest In Peace my brother.  I will be playing against you again someday.......

You were always happy to see me. You were a better friend to me than I was to you. I was always too sensitive and didn’t understand that it was just you being you and I wish I’d of understood that a long time ago. Watching sports and partying don’t seem the same since you’ve gone. Siobhan, words are not enough to express how very sorry I am to hear about Allen‘s passing. The loss of a spouse is unimaginable . Allen was one of a kind with such  a huge heart. I just met Al in November when he and his guys were replacing a roof where I live. Friendly thoughtful caring man,thats how he came across to me. We talked about his and wifes cats as he pet me and my roomates cat Levi. Sorry to his friends and family for your loss!!

I played basketball with Alan for more years than I care to recall.  Al was feisty on the court and the consummate competitor but what stands out most to me is no matter the outcome,  the next time I saw him he was the same friendly, outgoing person that everyone remembers. His personality was larger than life and he could always tell a good story! He will certainly be missed.

I’m deeply saddened... Alan was a great friend and someone I’ll sincerely miss. Al had the ability to light up a dull room and to bring a smile to anyone feeling down. I’ve known Al for over 20 years and he would make me laugh every time we saw each other. Rest in piece Al, I miss you already.

I first met Al about 25 years ago playing basketball at the War Memorial. We had breakfast at Sonny Side Up more times then I can remember. Talked about sports and family. He was larger then life and always so full of life. He was loud, he was caring, he was giving. He was always so good with my daughter and he always was so upbeat. Couldn’t believe when I heard the news. My condolences to his family. Thanks for being a great friend Al, I’ll miss ya buddy. Rest easy

Al was a long time friend of my brother Dave and spent many  hours at our Morris Street home. I would sit at the counter at Sonny Side Up, have breakfast and talk to Al about the two cats outside he was caring for among other things like sports. When Al started a conversation everybody listened. My condolences to his family. I'll miss him.


I knew Alan many years ago, although we had not talked in some time. I remember him as bigger than life, gregarious and quick to make you laugh. We are very saddened by the news of his passing.

Our family is devastated by this sudden loss! Thanksgiving morning my brother Bob stopped over to our house! He had the biggest smile on his face! I asked him where he had been and his response, "Just had breakfast with Alan Repko! I love that guy!" My sister worked out with him the night before he had passed! Needless to say, I dreaded the two phone calls I had to make to inform them both about Alan's passing! He was that "one in a million" kind of guy who always had a smile on his face! Thanks for the great memories, Alan! You have left a real void in the Cesca family! RIP.

We are all in shock at  A Cut Above with this sad news! So very sorry for his family and dear friends.  Alan was larger than life! We can't believe he won't be walking into the salon anymore saying "How you doin?" with that big smile on his face.  Lots of laughs with him here! He will be missed by many. This is reminding us all a hard lesson about how fragile life can be. Gone way too soon. May he rest in peace. God bless him.

My condolences to Alan's family. I lost contact with Alan after high school. Alan dated my best friend. What I remember most was how he made her laugh. I was always shy around him. He was so popular and on the football team. I never knew what to say. He always made me feel better. Not with what he said but with his warm and loving smile. I will remember that the most. Just saw Alan last week at Metro Roofing! As always had a smile on, was good to see him. RIP....... you will be missed!

I have know Alan for many years between being on the side lines watching the recreational basketball games he sponsored or at Subaru when he came in for service or just to visit. Or the occasional sightings at the diner when he would tease my boys.  He was a great man and I am honored that I got a chance to know him.
