Alberto de Pina, 98, of Danbury, CT passed away peacefully at St. John Paul II Center for Healthcare in Danbury on Friday evening, May 25, 2018. He was the husband of the late Mary Elizabeth (Cardoso) de Pina.
Born in Fornos de Algodres, Portugal to the late Luis and Olinda de Pina Goncalves, he immigrated to the U.S. in 1969. Settling in Danbury, Alberto worked for Danbury Hospital until his retirement in 1978.
An avid artist working in charcoal and oil, Alberto did many religious works, some of which can be found at Sacred Heart Church and Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, both in Danbury. While in Portugal he was a commercial artist.
Besides his wife and parents, Alberto was predeceased by his son: Antonio de Pina, in 2009 and his brother: Antonio de Pina.
Survivors include his children: Agostinho de Pina of Florida; Maria Oliveira and Filipe of Danbury; Jose de Pina and his wife, Joann, of Florida; Manuel de Pina of Danbury; Maria Bush and her husband, Jeff, of Waterbury; and Maria DeSousa and her husband, Manuel, of Danbury. Many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great great-grandson also survive.
Funeral Services and burial will be private.
