

He was from a large family with parents August and Marjorie along with four siblings. He was predeceased by his parents, sisters; Donna, Mary, and Margorie and is survived by his brother David and wife Bonnie of Houston Texas, along with many nieces and nephews.
Al lived a life defined by courage, dedication, and humor. Allen attended the University of Florida in Gainesville. After college both he and his brother David enlisted into the U.S. Military. Allen was a fighter pilot in the Navy, receiving countless accolades for his courage and skill. After Vietnam, Allen settled in New Fairfield, CT. He spent his career as a pilot and Captain for American Airlines.
He loved his life on Candlewood Isle where he met and married his wife Whitney. They shared much love and laughter throughout their years together. Al also had a close knit group of friends that he shared much time with vacationing and entertaining. Al spent hours upon hours landscaping his gardens and ponds, adding plants and stonework each season. He also loved spending time with step-daughter Kristen & Brad Buffington and grandson Zachary who held a very special place in his heart. Al was kept busy and on the go attending Zachary’s sporting events that started in grade K continuing through his college career. He also loved his time spent with Whitney’s three other grandchildren, Jake, Luke, and Morgan Burrell of Guilford, CT. Al’s love and laughter will always live in our hearts.
