

She was born Aloisia “Lucy” Heller on April 6, 1924 in Danbury, daughter of the late Stephen M. and Anna P. (Leitner) Heller. She was a 1941 graduate of Hawley High School in Newtown. In 1944, before her formal graduation in 1945 from Danbury State Teacher’s College, she began a 40-year teaching career in Newtown and Danbury. Her first position, at the age of 20 years, was in a one-room school house on Huntington Road in Newtown. She later taught at St. Joseph, Roberts Avenue, and King Street Schools in Danbury.
She will be sadly missed by her three children, John F. Mulvihill (Evelyn), Maureen Pennarola (Francis), and Rita J. Mulvihill (William); her seven grandchildren, Kevin, Katie, Adam, Brian, Sarah, Patrick, Andrew and one great grandson, Trent.
She was predeceased by her sister, Stephania Heller.
The family will receive friends and relatives at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Danbury on Tuesday, February 5 between the hours of 4:00 to 8:00 pm.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 6 at 10:30 am at St. Joseph Church in Danbury. She will be buried in the spring at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery in Sandy Hook.
Her family wishes to express their sincere appreciation for the loving care she received from Ms. Velma Brown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her memory may be made to the Gail P. Shaker Memorial Scholarship at Western CT State University or Regional Hospice and Palliative Care of Danbury.
