It is very difficult for me to express how I feel about the loss of our wonderful Uncle Andy. He helped me through the worst time of my life when my son Frankjohn  passed. My only consolation is that he is with the love of his life, Auntie Ann. I'm sure you're dancing in heaven!

Uncle Andy was one of a kind! He was always full of positive thoughts. I can't remember a day when he was angry or upset about something. Maybe that's  how he lived so long. He's an inspiration for us all! Rest in peace Uncle! You WILL  be remembered and sorely missed!

I was honored in April to attend  Andy’s second recognition as a WWII and Korean War Veteran by the Danbury Hometown Heroes Banner program.  Andy was such a big part of the Danbury Senior Center family, attending dances, art class, bingo, just so many events. A true gentleman who had respect and kindness for all. We will miss Andy, but his memory will stay with us in our hearts as the American hero he was.

Uncle Andy’s gift to me when my son, Warren was born in 2020. I always loved how signed it.

I can’t remember a time when Uncle Andy was not a vital part of my life. He and my Dad were very close and their wives were like sisters. I remember happy days at the beach, and cook outs in my grandmothers back yard. 
As years passed and I became a new bride he spent many hours putting up wallpaper and draperies in my first apartment.
He attended most of my barbecues and was loved by all.  We truly enjoyed his companionship .
He was a wonderful and thoughtful man throughout his life and always took a sincere interest in the accomplishments of his nieces and nephews and their children. 
Uncle Andy will be greatly missed. May he rest in peace and continue to watch over all his loved ones.

Veteran of the Game..Yankee Stadium 4/2024

It,s people that make life worth living.Uncle Andy's 98 years of living is proof of what he meant to everyone who shared his life . A man worthy of so many words, wit, sincerity,integrity,loyalty, and most of all love for anyone who was lucky enough to be part of his world. I  was blessed to be one of those people. I will miss him, miss our lengthy phone conversations, and he will remain forever in my heart.

Uncle Andy was one of the greatest of the Greatest Generation. A proud NAVY Veteran of WWII & the Korean Conflict, Uncle Andy was fittingly born on Veteran’s Day. The youngest of 8 children born to Andrea & Felicia (Tucci) Pirone, Uncle Andy was raised in Mt. Vernon, NY.  On 6/10/60 he married the love of his life, Ann Gelardo. Their marriage was 58 wonderful years before the passing of his beloved wife in 2018. They treated each, of their three generations, of nieces & nephews, as their own. Though not a native son of Danbury, the Veteran community embraced Uncle Andy.  His service to his country was honored on many occasions. He was so proud, yet humbled, by the many accolades he received. Second to our family, his love of country was profound. The honor of my life was accompanying Uncle Andy on the Hudson Valley Honor Flight to Washington, DC. The outpouring of love and gratitude for the Veterans was overwhelming & so deserved. An avid NY Yankee fan, Uncle Andy was celebrated as “The Veteran of the Game”.  Family & friends joined thousands of cheering fans as his handsome face was projected on the jumbotron. It was an amazing day. Uncle Andy was blessed with many friends with whom he played endless card games. It was wonderful to see him surrounded by people who loved him…he was so easy to love. Uncle Andy was so talented! At age 90 he picked up a paintbrush & produced the most beautiful paintings. During one of our last conversations, he commiserated how much he missed celebrating my late mother’s birthday. Not one to miss a party, Uncle Andy passed on her birthday. The Welcome Home to Heaven reception he received, by Auntie Ann, his parents, siblings, in-laws, family & friends must have been epic. Though our loss is immeasurable, we are all so grateful for having Uncle Andy in our lives. His love, warmth, laugh, smile & decency have enriched us all. We love you, Unc and will miss you until we meet again. God Bless You & Rest in Peace.

Andy has been in my life such a short time. I met him 3 years ago when I moved in next door. Such a sweet gentleman. I will not forget him.

I will miss  my dear  Andy My neighbor, best friend,  and a sweet man.  He was so kind and always a gentleman. Watched many a yankee game together. Love and miss you Andy  .

Though we will be away next week, our thoughts are with Uncle Andy of contagious, winsome smile, emanating from an abounding, warm demeanor. I remember him best on my piano bench as we together revisited Gershwin, Porter, and other Golden masters. Being in the same space was -  for most folk - a virtual guarantee of fun. All blessings to family.
