
Angela F. Coelho of Danbury, passed away on August 2, 2015 at the age of 88 of complications of Alzheimer's disease. Angela was born on November 2, 1927 in Mount Vernon, New York., and was a long time resident of Danbury.
She was the daughter of the late Arminio Fernandes DaCunha, and Maria Anuncicao Fernandes. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Anthony M. Coelho Sr. in 1983, and her second husband Rafael Coelho in 2007, as well as her brother Manuel Fernandes and sister Maria DaSilveria of Danbury.
Angela will be sadly missed by her family. She is survived by her 3 sons: Dr. Anthony M. Coelho, Jr. and wife Linda of Germantown, MD, David Coelho and wife Donna of Danbury, and Joseph M. Coelho and wife Viola of San Antonio, TX; two grandchildren: Katie Coelho of Danbury and Michael Coelho of San Antonio; and a great-grandchild, Zane (Michael), nephews & nieces & their spouses: Julia and George Guarino, Angela Elliott, George and Holly Coelho, Maureen Coelho, David and Tracy Fernandes, and her sister-in-law Emilia Pina Coelho of S. Paio, Gouveia, Portugal.
During the Great Depression, Angela and her family moved to Villa Franca da Serra in Portugal where they lived until Angela was a teenager and they returned to the USA. Angela met and married her husband, Anthony M. Coelho in Danbury where they raised their family. She and "Tony" started "Tony's Electrical Appliances" on Liberty St., Danbury and they worked together for more than 40 years. Their dedication & great service to their customers earned them the "First Red Carpet Dealer Award in Fairfield County", issued by the Maytag Corporation. Angela & Tony were always proud of that accomplishment. Later on, Angela accepted a job at the Davis & Geck Company in Danbury where she eventually retired.
Angela and Tony were members of the Sons of Portugal Club and she took great pride in attending the annual Portuguese Day parade & picnic. After Tony passed in 1983, Angela spent her time with friends and family showing her love with cooking and baking Portuguese soups and desserts. She loved crocheting and knitting, giving her creations to friends and family.
She taught her children about honesty, doing the right thing and stressed the importance of a good education. She never missed voting in elections. She loved entertaining friends and family at her home, dancing, taking family trips to the beach, visiting friends and making pilgrimages to the annual Our Lady of Fatima Festival in Ludlow, MA.
The family wishes to thank Angela's wonderful caregivers over the past few years at Maplewood of Danbury, and Filosa Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Danbury. Friends and family may call at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St on Sat. Aug 8, from 8:30 am – 10 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Church at 10:30 am. Burial will be at St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury following the mass.
