Born January 27, 1920 - Passed June 17, 2026
Angela was born in Brooklyn, NY to Domenica and Cataldo Ferrigno, January 27, 1920. She was one of 7 children born to the family, with four surviving. Her brothers Anthony and Nicholas and her sister Rosaria Cardinale (Sally), predeceased Angela.
Angela was a child of the Great Depression, and her father was the owner of a furniture store in Brooklyn. The family lived in a large brick home built by their father with beautiful gardens, at 867 Schenectady Ave. in Brooklyn.
She married Edward J. Sorrentino, who she originally met prior to WWII, introduced by family friends. They married in April 1946 after her husband returned from serving in the Battle of Normandy in the French corridor.
Angela began her career working in New York City, first as secretary to the President of Norcross Greeting Cards, then Posner Shoes and ultimately as assistant to the president of Sulker's Haberdashery, where she met all the popular celebrities of the day: Tyrone Power, Hedy Lamar, Joan Crawford and Cary Grant, to name a few.
She had her daughter Barbara in 1955 and continued to work for a short while thereafter.
Angela spent a life of caring for her family; mother and father, her brother Nick and great aunt, Mary. She devotedly cared for her husband in his later years as he suffered from Parkinson's disease. Angela showed kindness and love to all, always putting others first and herself last. She will be remembered for the good-hearted person she was in life - devoted mother, loving wife, kind aunt and caring friend.
Her name was appropriate, Angela, as she was truly an angel here on earth. God blessed her with a long life because of what she brought to others which continued even in her journey at Danbury Regional Hospice, where she was loved for the stories she shared about life, her counseling when caregivers shared their personal concerns, and for her kind spirit.
Angela predeceases her loving daughter Barbara and her husband Arnie Sivba; her niece Adelaide and her husband Jerry Pecora; their children Adele Pecora, and Gerard Pecora and his wife Judy; her nephew Dr. Joseph P. Cardinale and his wife Judy; and their children, Joey Cardinale, and Jillian Stanziola and her husband Mike, and all the great grand nieces and nephews.
A Life Well Lived, in kindness, thoughtfulness and service to others. I know she has her place in Heaven!
