

Antonio Do Couto, age 84 of Danbury, beloved husband of Clotilde de Jesus Do Couto died Sunday July 10, 2011. He was born in Ribeira Seca, Vila Franca Do Campo São Miguel Acores, on November 28, 1926.
Antonio started working at a very young age and learned the trade of making horse saddles. At the age of 40, he immigrated to Bermuda, where Antonio became known to his co-works as “tony”, and worked as a gardener at Harmony Hall Hotel and at various landscaping and farming jobs.
In 1976 Antonio and his family moved to Danbury, in which he made his home and worked for Morganti Construction Company until he retired. Antonio and his wife then moved back to São Miguel, Acores where he lived his retirement years living his life with what he enjoyed doing: farming, making miniature horse saddles, playing dominoes and cards with his friends and grandchildren, going to religious social events. Antonio had strong work ethics, was a hard worker and a good provider for his family. Antonio was a friendly, fun loving man, who enjoyed the company of his beloved brother Eduardo, nephew Eduardo Rebelo, his family and friends. Antonio, was a loving husband, father and grandfather .
When his health was failing Antonio and his wife returned to Danbury to be near their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Antonio will be buried in the resting place of his beloved parents Joao and Gloria Couto. Antonio will be greatly missed and always remembered by his family.
Antonio, was pre-decreased by his brothers Jose Do Couto and Manuel Do Couto.
In addition to his beloved wife Clotilde of 56 years, survivors include three children: his beloved son Alfredo Do Couto (Adelia), two daughters: Maria (Minha Maria) Da Cunha (Fernando), Odete Braga (Daniel), all of Danbury. A sister Constantina Rebelo of New Bedford, Mass. A brother Joao Do Couto (Delores) of Florida. eight grandchildren: Jessica Jacobs (Eden), Michelle Da Cunha and Mark Keeve, Kelly Mesa (Oscar), Andrew Da Cunha, Alexander Braga, Daniel Braga, Jasmine Do Couto, Roberto Braga and six great grandchildren Austin, Ashley, Jayden, Carmen , Hayley, and Gavin all of Danbury, as well as several nieces and nephews sister in-laws and brother-in-laws.
The Do Couto family would like to thank the staff of Regional Hospice of Western CT for the compassionate and dignified care provided to Antonio.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am on Wednesday July 13 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Danbury. Burial will be in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury. The family will receive friends at the Green Funeral Home 57 Main Street Danbury on Tuesday from 5 to 8pm.
