Arthur Hilario Sr., 86, died peacefully in his home on Saturday, September 21, 2013. Arthur was born on December 1, 1926 in New Bedford Massachusetts, son of Abilio A. Hilario and Germana Moura Hilario.
Arthur was raised in Portugal, however he immigrated to the United States at the young age of 19, and worked hard all his life. He began his career plastering walls and went on to become a mason and building contractor, building many beautiful homes in the surrounding areas. In 1976 Arthur bought what is now well known as Hilario's Service Center located in Newtown Connecticut, for which he will be remembered by many for his endless years of hard work right up until his time.
Arthur married the love of his life, Silbina Simoes in 1952 and shared 56 years of marriage before Silbina's passing in 2008. Together they raised three children, Arthur Hilario, Jr. of New Milford, Barbara Ann Iapaluccio of New Milford, and Paul Hilario of Newtown . Arthur is also survived by his daughter in law Jenny Hilario, and son in law Bobby Iapaluccio, his eleven grandchildren, Jessica March, John Pratt, Tara Pratt, Arty Hilario, Brad Hilario, Ben Iapaluccio, Shelby Hilario, Kiki Iapaluccio, Veronica Hilario, Gabriella Hilario, and Dylan Hilario. He is also survived by his six great grandchildren, Makenna March, Silbina Knecht, Leianna Knecht, Adriana Pratt, Artie Hilario and Cameron Hilario. Arthur is predeceased by his brother Eduardo Hilario, and is survived by his four sisters, Ezara Longo of Portugal, Olinda Pires of Danbury, Alice Henriques of Massachusetts, and Maria Gomes of Danbury. Arthur leaves behind many nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am on Saturday September 28th at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Danbury. Entombment will be in the Saint Peter Cemetery Mausoleum, Danbury.
The family will receive friends at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Danbury on Friday September 27th from 5 thru 8pm.
