Barbara A. Murphy

Barbara was born in Norwalk, CT April 18, 1941, of the late Clifford and Frances (Wright) Avery. A recent resident of DeBary, FL, Barbara was a longtime Danbury, CT and Saratoga Springs, NY resident.

Barbara was a Registered Nurse at the former Pavilion Nursing Home in Danbury and a member of the Danbury Democratic Town Committee. She was also a special police officer with the Danbury Police Department, before retiring and moving to Saratoga Springs, NY. She became a member and officer of the Quaker Springs Fire Department Auxiliary.

Barbara loved her animals --- her babies as she liked to call them. She enjoyed gardening and bowling with all of her teams over the years.

Besides her husband, Barbara is survived by her children: Kevin F Murphy, Sr. and his wife, Ana, of New Smyrna Beach, FL; Karl W Murphy of Brookfield; Kandi J Massena and her husband, Stanley, of Danbury; and J. Brian Murphy and his wife, Annette, of Debary, FL. Also surviving is her longtime friend, Suzanne Corrie.

Barbara also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, who all knew her as “MomMom”: Kevin, Kristina, Mark, Kayla, Nick, Shailynne, Kyle, Gui, and Caitlynne.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11am on Monday, July 25, 2016 at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury with the Deacon William Murphy officiating. Interment will follow in Wooster Cemetery, Danbury.

Friends will be received from 1pm-5pm on Sunday, July 24, 2016 at the funeral home.
