

Barney Bowteck 95 of New Fairfield, CT, passed away on Monday March 26, 2012 after a short stay at Danbury Hospital & Filosa Nursing & Rehabilitation. Barney succumbed to kidney failure surrounded by his loving family.
He was the son of Andrew Bowteck and Mary (Runish) Bowteck of New York City, born on April 26, 1916 in New York. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Agnes (Lasicki) Bowteck, his two sisters Anna Gallgan of CA and Catherine Santi of TX. Barney will be sadly missed by his son and wife William Bowteck and Joyce (Antunes) Bowteck of Northport FL, his daughter Carolyn May and husband Joseph May of New Fairfield CT, his four grandchildren Melissa (Bowteck) Zegarielli and husband Guy, of New Milford, CT, Timothy May, of Marshfield, MA, William Bowteck Jr. and his wife Daria of Danbury, CT & Jonathan May of Danbury, CT, his five Great Grandchildren, Michaela, Jack, Guy, Carter and Sienna along with several nieces and nephews.
Barney attended New York City schools and served in the US Army during WWII as a combat engineer under Patton in Germany. He was employed as a Union Carpenter in the New York area for many years. He served as a longtime officer of his Carpenters Union local 2117 in Flushing, NY. After retiring, he moved to New Fairfield and became heavily involved in the New Fairfield Senior Center and the Veterans Association. He was also a former Honor Guard in the Veterans Association in New Fairfield. His hobbies were gardening and stamp collecting. Barney was best known as a very loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a fun loving and generous person to all and had a wonderful zest for life.
In lieu of flowers you can make a donation in his name to the New Fairfield Veterans Association. Calling hours are at Green Funeral Home at 57 Main Street Danbury on Thursday March 29th from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. There will also be a mass held at St. Edwards Church at Brushy Hill Rd., New Fairfield, CT on Friday March 30th at 10:00 AM and then to his eternal resting place at Mountain View Cemetery.
