Charles J. Bendrick

Chuck was born in Reading, PA to Joseph Bendrick and Mary K. Klimowitch on July 11, 1951. He graduated from MIT with a Bachelor’s in Life Sciences and earned a Master’s in Electrical Engineering from Syracuse University. He worked as an Electrical Design Engineer for many years at Leonardo DRS Naval Power Systems. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War where he served in the Army as a Pharmacy Tech and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. In the past he was involved with the Connecticut Choral Society where he had the opportunity to sing at Carnegie Hall in NY. In earlier years Chuck supported the Boy Scouts. He is a social member of the King Street Volunteer Fire Department where he always enjoyed selling flowers for the holidays to support his local fire department.

Chuck will be remembered for his wry sense of humor and expansive knowledge in many topics. He enjoyed engaging in an intellectual discussion. His interests included science, history, music, nature, hiking, cycling, photography and target shooting. He taught himself guitar, tinkered with electronics and enjoyed listening to his extensive vinyl collection. He recently tried out a new hobby, learning to draw.

Family members remember many fun and funny stories during their time together with Chuck sharing his various hobbies. He was always supportive and gave good advice.

Chuck is survived by his wife Diane McBergin and his children Kate, Joe, and Steve Bendrick, and their mother Ann Brennan. He is also survived by his stepchildren Katlyn McBergin Mishley (Jeff), Nick McBergin (Alysa) and granddaughter (Brooklyn McBergin).

Family will be welcoming friends and family members during calling hours on Monday, August 10th between 4-6PM with a service at 5:30PM at Green Funeral Home, Danbury, CT.
