

Christopher Garrett Panté, 58, entered the gates of heaven on Sunday, February 6, 2022 with blessings from his loving family and friends. He is survived by his beloved parents, Louis Panté and Mary Panté of Danbury, CT; a brother, Richard Panté (and Jane), of Maine; two sisters, Linda Panté Ross, of Croton-on-Hudson NY; Maria Panté of Danbury CT; he was pre-deceased by a brother, Louis Panté. Chris is further survived by his beloved nieces and nephews, Richard Panté, Jr. (and Autumn), Josiah Panté, Joyce Panté, great nephew, Donovan Panté, nephew, Christopher Weeks and niece, Dominique Ross. Chris was christened at Holy Child Church in Richmond Hill, Queens, New York and attended mass at St. Joseph Church in Danbury regularly throughout his life.
Chris was born on February 12, 1963 in Richmond Hill, Queens, New York. He attended Mill Ridge Elementary, Rogers Park Junior High and Danbury High School, where he played boys varsity basketball and was a sports writer for the school newspaper The Megaphone.
Chris attended the University of Connecticut where he studied communications and graduated in 1985. He worked first for ESPN in Bristol before working at a variety of sports occupations, including the NHL, YES network, MLB and two Olympics broadcasts. Chris enjoyed being a statistician for the New York Knicks where he assisted Walt “Clyde” Frazier during the broadcasts. Chris was a statistician for a variety of other college and professional athletic contests.
Chris was a fervent sports fan, passionately and faithfully following the Mets, Jets, Knicks, Rangers and UConn Huskies. He orchestrated years of planned trips to Chicago with friends to visit historic Wrigley Field to watch the Cubs play while also taking in the best of windy city culture.
Chris also hosted his own radio and local cable talk shows which featured a variety of guests and topics over many years. For years, Chris dabbled in the world of stand-up comedy, where he bravely regaled audiences (including many supportive friends) in New York City and Connecticut with his humorous observations about life. Chris brought joy to many and always enjoyed a good laugh. He was also a masterful storyteller with an uncanny ability to recall the smallest detail of an event or occurrence.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Main Street in Danbury at 10:00 a.m. on February 19, 2022. Calling hours will be at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street in Danbury from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., on February 18, 2022.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Chris’s name to the “Christopher G. Panté Memorial
Scholarship Fund” at Danbury High School.
