Damarida Newgent, 99, of New Fairfield, CT, passed away on Thursday, June 6, 2024. Born in New York, NY, she was the daughter of the late Dominic and Domenica (Bartolomeo) Guido. She was the beloved wife of Jack Newgent, the mother of the late Jack Newgent and his son Jack Newgent, Jr. She is survived by her son, Dominic Newgent and his wife Marianne, and her daughter, Ada Runco and her husband Joseph.
In addition to her children, Damarida leaves behind seven grandchildren: Nicholas, Joseph, and Michael Runco; Adrian, Stephanie, Peter Newgent, and Maria Bernier, as well as great-grandchildren Olivia, Anthony, Isabella, Joseph, Joseph, and Luca.
Rita's unwavering faith in God was evident in her everyday life, serving as a beacon of strength in both good and challenging times. She found joy in the company of her family and in playing the piano. Rita proudly contributed to her country's efforts during WWII as a volunteer aide at Mother Cabrini Memorial Hospital in the Bronx, New York. Her love and fortitude touched the lives of all who knew her, making her truly cherished.
Visitation for Damarida will be held on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St, Danbury, Connecticut 06810. A Mass of Christian Burial will occur on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at 10:30 AM at St. Edward The Confessor Church, 21 Brush Hill Rd., New Fairfield, CT 06812. Committal will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park, 100 Mill Street, Putnam, NY.
